5,000 CEC candidates invited through Canada Express Entry Program

Through the Canada Express Entry program, it continues to welcome 108500 immigrants. On March 18, 2021, Canada invited 5,000 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence.

The candidates must have a score of at least 449 to receive an Invitation to Apply for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Also, the candidates must have one year of work experience as a full-time skilled worker, and intermediate official language skills among other criteria. In addition, the candidates are included only if they submitted their Express Entry profile before February 19, 2021, UTC, as per the tie-break rule.

Despite, all the restrictions due to the present scenario, Canada is still continuing to prioritize immigration applicants, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). According to IRCC data dated March 8, 2021, around 77 percent of Express Entry candidates in Canada are eligible for the EC.

Attorney David Cohen, Senior Partner of Campbell Cohen said that to achieve the immigration targets for the year 2021, the Federal government has chosen to focus on Express Entry candidates already in Canada through CEC- specific draws and holding PNP.

The last draw on March 17 focused on Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. These applicants have higher CRS scores due to the fact that getting a PNP naturally concedes Express Entry up-and-comers an extra 600 focuses.
